Towards 2008 is a national student and young adult campaign for WYD2008 co-hosted by the Australian Catholic Students Association (ACSA) and the Australian Catholic Young Adults Network (ACYA).

As Australia prepares to welcome the young people of the world for WYD2008, many opportunities exist for ACSA & ACYA to serve the Church and the broader community and working together we hope to pursue the following objectives:

  1. Affiliation of student & young adults and their local groups into the ACSA & ACYA networks;
  2. Spiritual & social events for students & young adults across Australia;
  3. Seminars & national gatherings of students & young adults;
  4. The release of a weekly email and an online journal "New Springtime";

The largest Towards 2008 event so far has been the ‘2028 Congress’ held in Canberra last July where over 500 students and young adults gathered to discuss "The next generation and the Church in Australia."

Since then, ACSA/ACYA have been involved in hosting and supporting various events across Australia in the lead up to WYD2008 including Joseph The Musical (Sydney 2007), the Reasons for Hope Weekends (Sydney, Melbourne 2008), Theology on Tap (Sydney, 2007-2008) and Theology at the Pub (Melbourne, 2008).

During the week of WYD2008, ACSA/ACYA will be involved welcoming the students and young adults of the world at several events to be held at Sydney University and various locations across the city.
