OVERVIEW:

With less than 150 days till World Youth Day 2008, university students and young adults from across NSW are expected to gather in large numbers for the final Reasons for Hope (RFH2008) weekend before Pope Benedict flies to Australia in July.

The main speaker for RFH2008 is Cardinal George Pell who will speak on the theme of the weekend: WITNESS TO HOPE: Remembering John Paul, Awaiting Benedict.

The theme "Witness to Hope" has been chosen to link with the WYD theme: "You will be witnesses" and also to remind us of Pope Benedict's latest encyclical, Spes Salvi – Saved by Hope.  "Witness to Hope" was also a phrase Pope John Paul II used to describe his mission as the Holy Father.

Some of the topics & speakers are listed below.  As you will see it is shaping up to be a great weekend with 40 Hours Adoration, music, sport, entertainment and speakers. During the weekend there will also be an opportunity to register for WYD2008.

The principal speaker for RFH 2008 will be Cardinal George Pell with the weekend to be held from Friday 7th till Sunday 9th March at the Vision Valley Conference Centre, Arcadia.

2008 marks the tenth birthday for Reasons for Hope and since 1998 almost 1,000 students and young adults have participated in this annual Lenten weekend.

Across its ten year history, the basic program for Reasons for Hope has remained consistent - daily Mass, 40 Hours Adoration, talks and forums with inspiring speakers and sport & entertainment.
